Wondering when the computer that has been assigned to you will be replaced?
Great news! The Office of Information Technology has created a computer life
cycle replacement website just for you!
The computer life cycle replacement program was created approximately 4
years ago in an effort to keep all computers for faculty and staff and those
in public and teaching computer laboratories up-to-date. In collaboration
with representatives from each of the academic and administrative units, an
inventory was compiled and a replacement project plan was created. The
initial goal of the program was to replace the computers in the public and
teaching laboratories and provide all *full time* faculty and staff members
with *one* primary computer. The program was later expanded to include a
small pool of computers for adjuncts, part time employees, student and
graduate assistants. To date, the Office of Information Technology has
successfully replaced well over 2,000 computers campus wide! The first
replacement of the leased computer equipment was successfully replaced this
past summer in our teaching and public computing laboratories. Our next
project is to replace the 800 leased computers that are currently assigned
to faculty and staff over the next few months.
By visiting this website:
You will be able to enter the serial numbers of *all* the computers assigned
to you. It is the case that many computers have been provided by the OIT
and/or purchased directly by your department. Entering all of your computer
equipment will assist us in taking stock of all the computer equipment that
currently exists on campus and in creating a future replacement plan to
ensure all computer equipment remains current.
Our database will identify the leased computer that has been assigned as
your primary by the OIT as well as the scheduled replacement date. If our
database is unable to identify the computer, the University Help Desk will
investigate the issue and contact you with further information.
It may be the case that the computer that has been assigned to you is
located somewhere other than your office. You will be able to enter and
modify the location where the computer equipment currently resides. This
will be helpful when it's time to deliver the new computer.
You will have the opportunity to select the make and model of your
replacement computer. You’ll have the chance to review the hardware
specifications of the default models to see if they suite your needs based
on your academic or administrative requirements.
You will be able to review the documentation on how to create back up cd’s
and/or sign up for training courses with the OIT.
Sounds good, right?! If you're ready to begin the tour of the site, all you
need to do is click on one of the links below and enter your NetID!
