Frequently Asked Questions
top
| Can I eliminate the
"mail" part of my e-mail address? |
All faculty and staff accounts have always had an alternate E-mail
address of the form Firstname.Lastname@Montclair.edu. For example,
Frank Smith actually has two email addresses associated with his
account: a primary address of smithf@mail.montclair.edu
and an alternate address of Frank.Smith@montclair.edu
(Student accounts will NOT have the alternate Firstname.Lastname
address) |
| If we delete a message via Webmail,
is it also deleted on Netscape, or vice-versa? |
Both WebMail and Netscape
Communicator/Messenger are accessing the same mailbox. As a
result, changes made using one interface are reflected in the
other. |
| I use CSAM mail to get my
e-mail at
home. Can I still access e-mail from here? |
You can still use the CSAM web
interface, though the new WebMail interface has a lot of nice
features that you may want to check out! |
| I'm an
Outlook user and when I
first set up the account I selected the POP option. Is there a way
of making this account IMAP? |
You can change an
existing Outlook "account" (profile, really) from POP to
IMAP. Please note that Netscape (and WebMail) are the only mail
clients supported by the Office of Information Technology. For Outlook, check
the Microsoft web site for documentation on how to set up an IMAP
account. |
| Is there any quick way to
delete messages in a particular folder other than by deleting them
one by one (which takes forever)? |
A "block" of messages can
be selected by highlighting the first one in the block, then
holding down the Shift key and clicking on the last one in
the block. All messages in between will be highlighted and can be
deleted at once. The Control key can be used to highlight
multiple messages that are not in a block. |
