What is Blackboard?

Blackboard are "course management systems" which allow you to transcend the physical walls of the classroom. For students, Bb adds additional learning opportunities and increases interaction between instructors and students.

What does Blackboard provide?

Some of the tools of Bb…

  • Discussion boards for collaboration
  • Electronic mail control - mail can be sent to the entire class or specific individuals without maintaining an address book of names
  • Quizzes, tests and survey areas
  • Course information (e.g., a syllabus), assignments and more
  • Lecture notes or PowerPoint presentations
  • Grade Tool (students can view their overall course results during the semester)
  • Calendar Tool (a course calendar can be created with assignments, due dates and more)

Note: there are many tools which can be used in Blackboard - your course instructor chooses which will be available and used in the course.

Getting Started with Blackboard

1. Go to http://blackboard.montclair.edu

2. Student have a Blackboard account. Login to Blackboard using your MSU NetID username and password.
